Addullah Abdullah, chairperson of High Council for National Reconciliation
Chairperson of Afghanistan’s High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), Abdullah Abdullah, left Kabul for Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, today, December 21. Accompanied by a high level delegation, Mr. Abdullah visits Tajikistan to garner regional support for the Afghan peace process.
A statement issued by Sapidar Palace, office of the HCNR, said Abdullah will visit Dushanbe, capital of the neighboring Tajikistan, on official invitation of the country’s government.
During his two-day official visit, he will meet the President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Foreign Minister, and other Tajikistan’s officials, according to the statement.
Chairperson of Afghanistan’s High Council for National Reconciliation visited Pakistan, Iran, India, Uzbekistan, and Turkey for the same purpose.
This comes as negotiation teams of the government and the Taliban have taken a 21-day break in a bid to consult with their leaderships on principles and terms of reference (TOR) the two parties have agreed on for a substantive talks.
