Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, in a telephone conversation, talked to EU high representative Josep Borrell about the ongoing peace process.
Borrell welcomed the launch of Intra-Afghan talks in Doha, and exclaimed the launch could result in the need for long-term peace in the chapter of Afghanistan.
The peace negotiations must be inclusive and preserve the social, economic, and political achievements since 2001, including women’s rights, Borrell reiterated.
Both leaders focused on Afghan peace negotiations to take place with a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire.
The representative said the European Union is committed to its promise towards the Afghan people to reach lasting peace, security and self-reliability.
Meanwhile, sources said Borrell will send a message to the Taliban that future European aids to Afghanistan are linked to republic values.
