Nimruz man stabbed his ex-wife to death – KabulNow

A man stabbed to death his ex-wife in Zaranj, the capital of western Nimruz province, a local government official says.

Bahram Haqmal, spokesperson for Nimruz governor, confirmed that the incident took place on Wednesday, September 17, in the second district of Zaranj.

The woman, whose identity remains secret, was killed after a Jirga of tribal elders failed to resolve the husband and wife dispute, according to Mr. Haqmal.

The culprit has managed to escape but a police investigation is underway to arrest him, the local official says.

Following this tragic incident, Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister, said that the era of violence against women has ended. He said Afghanistan is proud to have women serving in high ranks of public and military services.

In a separate deadly incident, a man has killed his sister and niece in Chahar Burjak district of Nimruz, according to local official.

Afghanistan is worst country for women. Reports conducted by national and international rights organizations say that Afghan women are subject to domestic violence, honor killing, forced and child marriages and harassment.
