MELAKA: Police personnel helped ensure that the first day of school for Year One and Year Two students went smoothly at all 238 primary schools in the state.
Melaka Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Hedzir Hussin said police officers were present at all of the schools to ensure people were aware of the new normal under the conditional movement control order.
“Our aim was also to give parents confidence in the mechanisms placed to ensure the compliance to the standard operating procedures,” he said on Monday (March 1)
ACP Mohd Hedzir said that the police officers assigned will continue to monitor the situation in schools.
“We will work closely with the Melaka Education Department,” he added.
Primary schools across the country reopened on Monday after being forced to halt physical classes due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.
The reopening will begin with preschoolers, Year One and Year Two pupils starting school on Monday while Year Three to Year Six pupils will start attending school on March 8.
