Tehran (ISNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi announced that Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif will deliver a speech on the implementation of the resolution 2231 at the United Nations Security Council via videoconferencing on Tuesday.
Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Mousavi said, “E3’s view of extending Iran’s arms embargo for another three years is not acceptable by Iran. The approach of the West, especially the United States, about Iran’s defense capabilities is a security approach that we do not accept it”.
He went on to say that Iran is serious about its defense and missile capabilities, adding, “All the progress of Iran in the field of defense has been achieved during the period of sanctions which indicates that we do not care about sanctions.”
“The continuation of Iran’s arms embargo is contrary to Resolution 2231, and Europe must accept the consequences,” Mousavi stressed.
Mousavi noted, “Zarif is also likely to hold a video conference with his Qatari counterpart this afternoon”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he denied speculations about the Iran-China comprehensive strategic partnership, stressing that the 25-year cooperation document is an honorary document.
“It is not a new issue and during the visit of Chinese President to Iran, the two sides agreed to prepare a document aiming at developing comprehensive and strategic cooperation. The draft of the document has been prepared and should be finalized by the two countries,” Mousavi said.
He emphasized that Iran and China enjoy strategic relations and both sides signed a document.
The spokesman noted that there are articles about political, economic and cultural cooperation in the document which will be published after being finalized.
Naturally, Iran-China strategic cooperation will have enemies who conduct propaganda campaign.
Elaborating on Iranian Foreign Ministry’s latest follow-up regarding the cause of death of the Iranian national named Gholamreza Mansouri in Romania, Mousavi said the issue is still ambiguous.
In spite of our requests, Romanian government gave no clear response, but the Foreign Ministry, Interpol and the Judiciary are pursuing the issue.
He urged the Romanian officials to provide information on the latest news regarding Mansouri’s death.
