2 jail cops arrested for taking bribes to help inmates

(ANSA) – ROME, NOV 26 – Two Italian prison officers were
arrested Friday on suspicion of taking bribes to help inmates at
Trani jail in Puglia.
   
The suspects allegedly gave inmates more time with their
families than they were due in exchange for cash and gifts
including food, cellphones and computers, police said.
   
Some 28 people have been placed under investigation on suspicion
of embezzlement, corruption, extortion and abuse of office, as
well as throwing off investigations. (ANSA).
