Cops detain 14 at drug-fuelled party in JB bungalow

JOHOR BARU: Police have detained 14 people for partying at a bungalow in Taman Perling here on early Thursday (Sept 16).

Johor Baru North OCPD Asst Comm Rupiah Abd Wahid said the suspects, all Malaysians aged from 20 to 41, were arrested at around 2.30am.

“The party started at around 10.30pm on Wednesday (Sept 15) and the bungalow was rented for RM2,000,” she said in a press statement on Friday (Sept 17).

ACP Rupiah said the bungalow was rented by a 41-year old man, the organiser of the party.

She said police also seized a variety of drugs believed to be ganja, ketamine and ecstasy.

Five men, including the party organiser, also tested positive for drugs.

ACP Rupiah said police issued a RM2,000 compound notice to the party organiser while the other 13 individuals were slapped with RM1,500 compound notices each.

She added the compounds were issued for failing to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) under phase one of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

The case is being investigated under Section 6(2) of the Johor Entertainment Enactment and Entertainment Outlets and also under Section 39A(1), Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

All suspects, seven of whom are women, have been remanded for four days to assist with the investigation.
