PETALING JAYA: Malaysians see the need to place the entire country under the movement control order (MCO) but rue the restrictions that it places on the people.
On Facebook, Ram Rahul said he hoped that Malaysians would be disciplined and follow standard operating procedures.
“Hopefully, enforcement officers will be fair to all and there will be no double standards.
“We have been going through a nightmare for the past 1.5 years, we can’t even meet our family members.
“Of course, some may be happy and some sad on this arrangement but there is nothing much that can be done now as the damage has already been done. No point pointing fingers and let’s do our best as per the government decision and have faith in God,” he said.
On Facebook, Gary Tan said the current MCO could have been avoided if people had diligently followed SOPs.
“Hope it’s not too late to prevent a Covid-19 tsunami,” he said.
Mohd Fuzimis said the MCO was a good decision but expressed sadness that he would not be able to celebrate Hari Raya.
However, Mohd Fahmi said the MCO was needed.
“Everyone understands the importance of the MCO – that is why the first MCO was a success,” he said, adding that there had been some incompetent decisions made.
Shiyamala Sandaran expressed some frustration as the MCO would now be in place for another month.
“Follow the first MCO precautionary measures!” she said, adding that it was tiring to have to endure so many roadblocks.
Ajay Dev questioned the implementation of this MCO if economic sectors remained open.
“It will make the (number of) cases go higher,” he said.
On Monday (May 11), Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the entire country would be placed under the MCO from May 12 to June 7 due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases.
Among the restrictions are for all inter-district and interstate travel to be prohibited except for work and economic purposes, health matters, emergencies, vaccination appointments and long-distance couples.
There is also a three-person limit for private vehicles, taxis and e-hailing vehicles.
