KUALA LUMPUR: The enhanced movement control order has been imposed on Kampung Tringgus, Bau, in Kuching, Sarawak, from Monday (March 8) until March 21, following a spike in Covid-19 cases.
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 596 screenings have been conducted, and 37 positive cases were recorded as of Sunday (March 7).
“The Health Ministry confirmed there has been a drastic spike in cases at the locality.
“The enhanced MCO will enable the ministry to conduct targeted screenings and control the spread of the virus in the community,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
He also announced that the EMCO imposed at Kampung Tanah Merah, in Kota Marudu, Sabah, has been extended until March 22.
“The Health Ministry has conducted 319 screenings, and 26 positive cases were recorded.
“A total of 181 samples are awaiting results and positive cases are still being reported at the locality,” he added.
The enhanced MCO at the locality was initially scheduled to end on Monday, Ismail Sabri said.
“However, the government have decided to extend it until March 22, after a risk assessment was conducted,” he said.
He also announced that the enhanced MCO at Kampung Emperoh Jambu, Padawan in Kuching, Sarawak, will end of schedule on Monday.
“A total of 368 screenings have been conducted and 28 positive cases were recorded.
“The Health Ministry confirmed a decline in cases and the cluster is under control,” he added.
