Ismail Sabri: EMCO in several parts of Sabah, Pahang from April 14-27

PETALING JAYA: The enhanced movement control order has been enforced in several parts of Tawau, Kota Belud and Sandakan in Sabah and in Temerloh, Pahang, from April 14 until 27, following drastic increases in Covid-19 cases, says Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement on Tuesday (April 13), Ismail Sabri said the EMCO was enforced in Flat Sim-Sim, Mukim Beerhala and Kampung Sungai Obar, Mukim Sentosa in Sandakan from April 14 until 27.

Ismail Sabri said 38 screenings were conducted at the Sim-Sim housing area, and 17 positive cases were recorded, while 46 screenings were conducted in Kampung Sungai Obar where 10 positive cases were detected.

In Sabah, the EMCO was enforced in Taman Villa MAS, Tawau from April 14 until 27 after seven positive cases were detected in 42 screenings.

“The Health Ministry confirms that there is a drastic hike in cases within a week and there are still a remaining 35 screenings which results are yet to be out, ” he added.

The EMCO was also enforced in Kampung Melangkap Tomis in Kota Belud, Sabah, from April 14 until 27, after four positive cases were detected in 31 screenings conducted by the Health Ministry, he said.

In Pahang, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO was enforced beginning April 14 until 27 in four villages – Kampung Paya Pulai Tengah, Kampung Pulau Terap, Paya Pulai-Kampung Batu 4, and Paya Pulai-Kampung Batu 5, Jalan Maran – after 16 positive cases were found in 234 screenings.

“The EMCO is to ensure the movement of villagers in this locality can be controlled in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to other communities, ” he added.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO will be extended until April 28 in Kampung Ranggu Batu 10 in Tawau, Sabah, after 66 positive cases were detected in 265 screenings.

“The Health ministry confirms that there are a remaining of 122 samples that are still awaiting results.” he added.

The EMCO is also extended to April 28 in Taman Semarak in Tawau, Sabah, after eight positive cases were detected in 160 screenings, he said, adding that there were a remaining of 99 samples that are still awaiting results, said Ismail Sabri.

At the same time, Ismail Sabri also said the EMCO was extended to April 28 for Kampung Baru Pasir Putih in Tawau, Sabah, after 68 positive cases were detected in 847 screenings.

He added that there were a remaining 441 samples that are still awaiting results.

The EMCO was also extended until April 29 in Kampung Simpang 3A in Tawau, Sabah, after 28 positive cases were detected in 745 screenings.

“The Health Ministry confirms that there are a remaining 696 samples that are still awaiting results and there are still continuous infections among villagers, ” he added.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO at the YTY factory and workers quarters in Setiawan, Perak and Kampung Rimbayan. Keningau, Sabah, will end on April 15 after decreases in Covid-19 cases were recorded.

He said the end of the EMCO at the two areas were decided after risk assessment was conducted by various agencies in the MCO technical committee and advised by the Health ministry.
