Sabah polls: More autonomy to be given to Sabah MCA chairman Lu to lead party if he wins Kepayan state seat, says Dr Wee

KOTA KINABALU: More autonomy will be given to state MCA chairman Lu Yen Tung to lead the party in Sabah if he wins the Kapayan state seat on Sept 26, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said this was part of the party’s commitment to help Sabah develop better.

Dr Wee noted Lu was not a stranger to locals in Kapayan.

He knows the constituency and its people well, said Dr Wee.

“I believe he is also someone truly loyal to the party and will never jump once he wins, ” he said during a campaign talk at Kg Ganang near here, on Saturday (Sept 19) night.

Dr Wee attended the event despite suffering from a back injury from a fall on Friday (Sept 18).

“But I am okay and I must come to support our candidate, ” he said.

Dr Wee said Warisan Plus was always talking about political frogs that led to the dissolution of the state assembly in July 30, but they seem to forget that the Warisan-led government was formed due to these party hoppers.

“They did not win GE14 (14th general election), they only managed to form the government after Upko led by Datuk Seri Madius Tangau betrayed Barisan Nasional to support Warisan, ” he said.

He said Sabah would definitely develop better if it was aligned with the federal government.

“Choose wisely and give your vote to Lu Yen Tung this Sept 26, ” he said.

Lu said he had been developing close ties with locals for nine years and would continue to serve the people.

“Give me the mandate and I promise to help solve whatever problems we face in Kapayan step by step,” he said.
