This donation, worth $1.5 million, will allow the Kingdom to strengthen its response system to the Covid-19 pandemic. The unit can also be deployed in other public health emergency cases.
Speaking on this occasion, the head of the office of security and cooperation at the US Embassy in Rabat, Lieutenant Colonel Teremura Shamel, stressed that this donation comes within the framework of the longstanding cooperation and partnership uniting the two countries.
This mobile unit can be used wherever the medical need arises, he said, adding that it is equipped with a negative pressure isolation system that guarantees internal air purification for patients, as well as a healthy medical environment.
“The mobile hospital is a self-contained system, with air generators, beds, lights, showers, bathrooms and an administrative tent,” he said, hoping that this unit will help the Health Ministry to improve the medical services and care needed by Covid-19 patients during this pandemic.
Lieutenant Colonel Shamel said this unit can also provide basic medical services for any health emergency in the future.
The unit will make it possible to take care of patients with Covid-19 or patients suffering from other communicable diseases, requiring hospitalization in negative pressure isolation.
Military and civilian health staff have been trained for the deployment and operation of the unit.
