The family of an 11-year-old boy has accused a male teacher at an all-boys school of sexually abusing the child for three years.

The family filed the complaint on Friday with the police Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD). Anti-crime activist Achariya Ruangratanapong, who is advising them, said the boy had had enough with the abuse that started in 2018 and finally revealed it to his family recently.

It is alleged that the teacher at the primary school in Bang Kae district had sexually abused at least five pupils from grades 3-6 in washrooms. The children had told their teachers but school administrators had done nothing for lack of evidence, the activist said.

The teacher is still on duty at the school. Pupils were aware of his behaviour and would ask to see their class teachers whenever the man approached them, Mr Achariya said.

Administrators of the school contacted him to settle the case but he and the boy’s family rejected the approach, the activist said. He said would seek legal action against the administrators if they continued to turn a blind eye to the issue.

Pol Col Narong Teswibul, deputy commander of the ATPD, said investigators had received useful information from the boy. It was gathering evidence in relation to alleged sexual abuse of minors aged under 13 and would summon the accused teacher for questioning, he said.
