China contributes 500,000 CoronaVac doses to Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: China will be contributing 500,000 CoronaVac doses to Malaysia, says Wisma Putra.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein (pic) said he had received a message from China’s State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is his counterpart, about the contribution.

(CoronaVac refers to the name of the Covid-19 vaccine produced by biopharmaceutical company Sinovac.)

“On behalf of the Malaysian Government, I would like to express Malaysia’s sincere gratitude to my counterpart, His Excellency Wang Yi and the government of the People’s Republic of China for this generous contribution which will greatly assist us in our joint efforts to fight this pandemic.

“Malaysia is highly appreciative of the invaluable support extended thus far by the People’s Republic of China.

“This timely contribution will bolster the vaccination process and assist the ongoing rollout of Malaysia’s National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

“Through this recent initiative, Malaysia hopes the close and friendly ties will be further consolidated for the mutual benefits of our two countries,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (June 16).
