Pantai Cenang voted one of Asia’s top beaches by TripAdvisor readers.

Malaysia’s Pantai Cenang has been voted one of the top beaches in Asia by readers and followers of the world’s largest online travel platform, TripAdvisor.

The company recently released the beach edition of its extensive “Travellers’ Choice: Best Of The Best 2021” list, in which 25 of the most voted beaches in Asia are featured.

Pantai Cenang, located on the island of Langkawi, Kedah is listed at number 23, behind Sanur Beach in Bali, Indonesia, and ahead of Vietnam’s entries – An Bang in Hoi An and My Khe in Da Nang.

The beach lies on the main Langkawi island, and is a large, busy area that is mostly popular with tourists. Apart from just lounging on the beach, swimming in the sea or trying out some water sports activities, visitors can also check out the many restaurants, bars and attractions nearby, or shop for souvenirs at the stalls along the coast.

Kedah is currently under the conditional movement control order, while interstate and inter-district travel are not yet allowed in Malaysia, but do put Pantai Cenang on your travel wish list if you have never visited the place.

Meanwhile, the countries with the most entries on TripAdvisor’s list are Thailand and India with five beaches each.

The entries from Thailand are Nai Harn and Kata Noi beaches in Phuket; Long Beach in Phi Phi Island; Coconut Beach in Phan Nga; and Nong Thale in Krabi.

India has: Varkala Beach in Kerala; Varca, Cavelossim and Agonda beaches in Goa, and Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island, which is part of the Andaman.

Three popular beaches on Indonesia’s Bali made the cut (Kelingking, Nusa Dua and Sanur), as well as Sri Lanka’s Bentota and Hikkaduwa beaches (Galle) and Mirissa Beach.

The Philippines’ entries are Nacpan Beach in El Nido and White Beach in Boracay, while Japan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and South Korea have one entry each.

Malaysia may have better beaches and islands than some of those named on this list, but do remember that this poll only took into account votes made by TripAdvisor readers and followers/subscribers from around the world, who may not be aware of our other gems.
